SOS home-based education network is an inclusive group, offering support
regardless of religion, race, politics, or homeschooling method. We are
secular, meaning not religiously or politically affiliated.
Freedom and diversity, open-mindedness and compassion are the qualities
we hope to celebrate with our children in our coming together. We offer
this site as a gateway to a wealth of helpful information for all home
educators, whether just thinking about homeschooling, taking beginning
steps, or well on the way on this challenging and rewarding path of
homeschooling.
SOS is a
member-directed network. Ideas for activities, classes, learning co-ops,
field trips and other events may be offered by any member at any time.
Any member may take charge of coordinating an event, outing or field
trip. We do encourage every member to attend two meetings per month: one
family meeting for parents and children, to keep in touch and share
experiences; and one parents' meeting, for planning and uninterrupted
discussion purposes. Of course, every member is free to choose the level
of participation they are most comfortable with. Offer learning
opportunities and other ideas according to your family's interests;
attend or plan whichever events meet your family's needs.
Please check
the Yahoo
group calendar before planning or posting. Remember, events or
classes may have posted minimums, or maximums, filled on a first-come,
first-served basis. All planned events posted to the calendar
are open to all. Feel free to invite other friends or family members who
are not currently members of SOS to attend events or
activities.
